Etna Elementary School District is a small rural school district consisting of a K-6 Elementary School, a center based charter school for grades 7/8-(Etna Academic School Etna Elementary School of Arts Sciences and Technology), and an alternative, Community Day School.

Etna Elementary School is a high performing school that ranks well above the state average, and average for comparable districts in student performance. Student achievement consistently meets or exceeds growth targets in core academics. Despite an obviously strong academic focus, all academic content areas are addressed with exceptional programs offered in science and technology. A unique outdoor learning center associated with an on-grounds science lab is provided for children grades k-8. Exceptional students are fully integrated in the school with gifted and all other children with exceptional needs included and integrated in the core program Music is a regular part of the curriculum with Band and chorus offered 2-3 times per week, depending upon grade level. The school’s technology lab is similarly accessed weekly by all students. Additionally, all students in grades 5-8 have individual computers, and there is a 3:1 student/computer ratio for the lower grades.  School demographics are stable with very limited transience in the student body, and a veteran and stable staff.

Active parent involvement is a hallmark of the school with an active school site council and parent volunteers a common occurrence. Please review the School Accountability Report Card located on our web-page for additional information.  

Fort Jones Elementary School is a California Distinguished School.  The Vision of the Fort Jones Union Elementary School District, a partnership of students, parents, staff and community, is to empower all students of various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds to:

C. Become creative, critical thinkers and communicators. The Mission of Fort Jones Elementary, in partnership with students, parents, staff and community, is to provide each student with:

Etna Union High School was established in 1891 and is located in the beautiful Scott Valley, approximately 25 miles southwest of the County Seat of Siskiyou County, Yreka, California. The Etna Union High School District serves an area of approximately 1,500 square miles and is composed of Etna High School, Scott Valley Junior High, Scott River High School, two community day schools and an adult education program. The district’s attendance area encompasses all of Scott Valley, Quartz Valley, Sawyers Bar, Cecilville, and the Forks of the Salmon. Etna High School serves students in grades nine through twelve with an enrollment of 230 students. The high school’s attendance area encompasses all of Scott Valley, Quartz Valley, Sawyers Bar, Cecilville, and the Forks of the Salmon. The majority of students attending Etna High School have completed the eighth grade at Scott Valley Junior High; other eighth grade feeder districts are Quartz Valley Elementary, Sawyers Bar Elementary, Etna Elementary Academy of Arts and the Forks of the Salmon Elementary. The major occupations within the community are agriculture, logging, forestry, mining, tourism, and recreational businesses.
